Wish List

For those fleeing situations of domestic violence and sexual assault, they all too often leave with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. Because of generous community support, DASAS is able to provide many of the things they need. Many other items are offered by our community to help ease the uncomfortable situation of living in a place that is not one's own home. Below is a "Wish List" of those items that helps DASAS provide a nurturing, safe place for the hundreds of women and children that turn to us for help each year.

Thank you for your generosity! We appreciate new donations.

Volunteer

Volunteer support provides the backbone of all DASAS activities. Like most non-profits, DASAS relies heavily on the creativity, energy and commitment of volunteers to help provide resources, offer important services to our clients and guide the organization's strategic vision.

If you are interested in offering your time and talents to serve the survivors that turn to us for help each year, the following information outlines what opportunities are available at DASAS.

For further information on all the volunteer opportunities noted here contact our Volunteer Coordinator Rita Reed at 269-273-6154 extension 109.

Board of Directors

Domestic And Sexual Abuse Services board members are elected to serve terms of 3 years and are charged with the governance and oversight of the organization. Potential members are selected by the DASAS Nominating Committee, a group of community leaders, for consideration by the current Board of Directors. Potential board members are identified based on a proven commitment to DASAS mission and their ability to support the organization as it works to meet that mission.

Childcare

DASAS provides supervision on-site for children whose parent is utilizing our programs.

Volunteer Advocates

Volunteer Advocates provide support to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and/or their family members through DASAS' Emergency Response Program by meeting survivors at hospital emergency departments, police station, or other safe place. A 30-hour specialized training is provided each quarter for those interested. Volunteers are on-call one week per month, are good listeners, and have reliable personal transportation. We ask for a one-year commitment from our Volunteer Advocates. Many of our volunteers have been with the program for several years.
