You’ll be safe. The top priority of DASAS is your safety. If you’re by yourself, you may share a room with another survivor. If you’re coming with children, you’ll share a room with them. We have common areas such as a kitchen, living room and bathrooms.

Your stay will be free. You will not be billed for any services. There is a timeframe for how long you may stay and we will assist you in setting goals to transition to another living situation.

Your children will be safe. DASAS understands that children are often involved in domestic situations. Your children will be welcome at the shelter and are allowed to stay with you (regardless of gender and 17 years or younger). Childcare will be your responsibility but DASAS provides childcare during group and individual counseling sessions.

You’ll have basic necessities. You will be provided with food, toiletries, and linens during your stay. Shelter advocates will also help you make arrangements to replace any medications, personal documents or other items you may have needed to leave behind.

You can find referrals for pets. DASAS can offer you resources so you don’t have to leave pets behind.

Your stay will be confidential. DASAS will not share your personal information with outside agencies unless you give explicit permission to do so. In turn, we require you also keep the identities of other residents confidential.

Leaving your home is never easy, but rest assured DASAS is here to assist you and to do everything they can to accommodate your needs or help you find additional resources. To come to Hillmann House you do not need to decide to leave your assailant forever. Hillmann House is a safe place where families learn about options.
